Phil Jones, Chief Executive, graduated from Auckland University with a B.Com in 1971, and was a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants from 1974-2014. Phil has had a series of senior financial roles in both private and publicly listed companies. In 1987 he returned to University to complete a masters degree, part time, graduating in 1989. He founded Phil Jones Insurance Services Ltd at the end of 1990 and is a member of Financial Advice New Zealand. He was a Member of the Million Dollar Round Table (M.D.R.T.), the U.S. based pre-eminent body in the life insurance and disability fields from 1995 to 2014.
The other Director of the brokerage is… Murray Weatherston (AFA) is a highly experienced financial planner who has operated his own practice Financial Focus (New Zealand) Ltd for over 30 years. He has a BA (Hons) in Economics and formerly worked for NZIER, BNZ, NZ Manufacturers Federation and Buttle Wilson before moving to financial planning in 1988. Shortly thereafter he completed a management buyout of Financial Focus. He has been NZ Chairman of financial adviser professional bodies IAFP and SIFA (on two occasions). He was a Board Member of the Public Trust from 2001 to 2009. He is also a Past President of Badminton New Zealand and has served on a number of philanthropic Charitable Trusts
